Museum of Fashion Technology goes Goth
Currently showing at New York’s Museum of Fashion Technology is a retrospective called “Gothic: Dark Glamour” featuring works by Alexander McQueen, John Galliano of Christian Dior, Anna Sui, Yohji Yamamoto, and a number of other designers less associated with all things overstated and black. The clothing is presented in tablaeux from labyrinths to laboratories, and covers the origins and evolution of the genre (including a nice display of Victorian mourning jewelry), the subculture, and the couture designers it has both influenced and been influenced by. The show will be open through June 16th.
