Fashion Week: Jillian Lewis
New York’s Fashion Week is wrapping up, and here at Haute Macabre, we’re sad to say we didn’t get a chance to attend. Nonetheless there are a zillion and one pictures to sort through and we’ll be bringing you fashion week coverage as we manage to sift through the mediorce and find some Fall 2009 collections worth watching.
A surprisingly good collection was put on by Jillian Lewis, the “Project Runway” season four finalist. Her edgy, street-smart style worked great with lots of body-hugging trenchcoats and structured jackets. Jillian produced a small but interesting collection last year, but this was her first big show and Fashion Week debut. It’s sad economic times in New York, though. Like many designers this year, Jillian forewent the big runway show for a “presentation” style event, more of a cocktail party where the models posed in tableaux throughout the space as onlookers moved around them.
Keep an eye on those “puzzle” leggins- the look showed up over at Marc Jacobs as well and might be an interesting new trend to watch.
