Don’t Panic

Do you know where your beach towel is?
Breathe deeply. We’re here for you. We can help.
It’s that season again.
The season when, sooner or later, you are going to have wear a bathing suit. Even if it’s just to huddle in the shade drinking vodka tonics, or to sneak into a jacuzzi after the sun has slipped safely behind the horizon. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not, and the best thing you can do is to be prepared. So, do a few extra situps. Stock up on Ozone SPF 70 (and yes, I know they say it doesn’t matter past a certain SPF. But THEY are obviously not Irish.) Invest the $3.99 in Wet and Wild’s H2OProof Liquid Liner- you can swim in the stuff and still have perfect cateyes. And get a swimsuit that works for your body, fits like a glove, and makes you feel like the Goddess of the moonlit beach. Here. I’ll get you started.

Belted Sequin Swimsuit, $450 † Crocheted Sequin One-Piece, $96.29 † Lux Lamour One-Piece, $68
Shiny Halter Bodysuit, $30 † Le Sport Chic Swimsuit, $42 † Maillot-V Swimsuit, $45
Pussycat Bikini, $218 † Marylin One-Piece, $72 † Anchors Away Bottoms, $88.00
While I’m bringing out your inner beach bunny, you might as well go for the extra glam (not to mention, the extra coverage), and top the whole thing off with a fabulous hat:

Striped Sun Hat † Galaxy Swim Cap † Big Floppy Hat
(Side note: ebay has lots of retro-stlye rubber swim caps. With flowers.)
See? Mostly harmless.

Goddess of the moonlit beach? I’m going to have to invest in one of these at this rate: http://hijabtrendz.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/hijab1.jpg
However, in my dreams I will be looking like the lady in the middle bottom picture. With one of those big floppy hats please.

I hate my legs. However i love them in fishnets.
Can a self-respecting goth wear thigh-high fishnets at the beach, with a swimsuit and a black sunhat? i think i like the idea, but uh, i’ve never seen stockings at the beach.
Can I?

(to samantha) I don’t see why not. I think thigh-highs are OK, as long as you don’t get in the water. Somehow that just seems odd. And soggy. Like wearing socks in the tub. Which I totally do in the winter, as otherwise my toes hurt when they hit the hot water.

Might we soon see ideas for men on the Stylish Gent?

I keep looking. But so far, you boys seem to be up the creek without a paddle. Or something.

@ samantha and Nixon: Don’t stay in the sun that long, woman! Jeebez, get your arse under an umbrella or into a bar!

@Nixon – I have the floppy hats. I have successfully avoided my pasty ass getting color for years.

That Marilyn one piece is lovely. I think I like it best because out of all of those photos, her figure is most like mine
Hooray for curvy gals! I don’t do the beach, but I’d wear that around the house fo’ shizzle. (excuse my Snoop Dogg).

(to Samantha) have you tried a nice lace shaw around your hips or sandles with long tie up ribbons? the tie up sandles are great for thining and legthening legs and the wrap helps add to the long sheek goth model look (plus they look great when the wind catches them). by the by, these two look great with the floppy hats
