Summer Shoes

I’m having a bit of a problem, and I’m hoping that you guys can help me.

I think I’ve mentioned before that I live in Los Angeles.  Not long ago, we had two days in a row that were OVER A HUNDRED DEGREES.  In April.  Seriously.  It’s only going to get worse.  Last summer was horribly hot, and I’m not looking forward to it this year also.  Nixon started off our summer preparation last week, and now I’ve got to start on mine.

My problem is shoes.  It’s going to be too warm to keep wearing my boots every day, and they don’t look right with capris (I’m just not a shorts kinda gal).  I suppose that I could get the Jump Brash Booti that Zoetica has, but she and I have had way too many outfit twinsie experiences already.

I’ve seen quite a few pairs of summer shoes that I like, but obviously, I cannot go purchase them all.  Which do you guys like?

Jasper Ankle Boot †  Gabriella Rocha Sol

The truth is, the slouchy ankle booties used to immediately make me think of a vagina, but for some reason, they’ve really grown on me over the last few months.  I think as long as I don’t get them in any sort of flesh tone, I should be ok.

Fitzwell Azra †  Skechers Bewitch Bologna

I think it’s safe to say that the Jump Shiam shoes are nestled in my casual category, but we’ve mentioned them previously and assumed they were still rattling around in everyone’s collective mind.

P.S. – Why don’t these come in black?  I heart them so, but hate turquoise.

Now that I’m looking back on the options, the Jasper boots look too heavy for summer. One down!

We Who See booties and the Let’s Go Sailing flats are the best for what my style is. The flats are just versatile enough that you can wear them with almost anything, but not so blah that you feel like you won’t be “making a statement”. As for the booties, well I personally can’t wear heals because of a tumorous pinky toe, but if I could I would opt for those out of the given choices. Wedges are easier to walk in, less strenuous on your feet and they (in my mind at least) make a woman’s leg look a lot longer and hotter than heels. Maybe it is because they don’t have the gap in them like heels… sounds right. Seem more streamline.

I’d go with Aliza for summer, maybe the skechers for really casual…like the turquoise too, but in black, maybe you could dye them.

was personally eyeing the wewhosee’s as well so i’d have to rec those.

Great post, I’ve been having the exact same conundrum…I live in the Southwest too, only without the lovely ocean breezes of California, and I’m very reluctant to give up my boots but I know I’m going to have to break down eventually…wonderful suggestions!

  6. Ngaire Says:

The We Who Can See canvas shoes look extremely breathable while playing heavily with texture. I think they’d be easy to dress up or down. And… I want a pair myself.

In Australia, we had a week-long heatwave of over 45 degrees Celcius (that’s about 113 degrees F) and was subjected to flip-flops and wifebeaters all over town. I wish we had summer footwear like this down here!

Gladiator sandals came AFTER the heat, but it seems that spats are coming in for us?

  8. Lori Says:

For me, the Aliza boot far outshines any of the others. It’s very stylish and doesn’t look sloppy, but should definitely be more pleasant in the warmer weather.

  9. Omar Says:

We Who See Canvas Wrap Wedge – for sure
Skechers Bewitch Bologna – super cas

  10. Samantha Says:

@Angelbones – Ocean breezes are an urban legend, unless you are in Santa Monica.

I would go with the Sketchers and the Fitzwell. Hot weather requires that sweaty feet be as comfortable as possible, and the little wedge and mary jane are great ways to look class and still not suffer too horribly in the weather.

    Madden Girl Aliza Boot!
I was having this exact same dilemma last night. I’m in NJ so it only just started getting warm here, but all I have to wear are boots and a pair of Chucks. Although, it still might be difficult to give up my granny boots for the summer…

Long Beach has wonderful ocean breezes.

I’ve been trying to find sandals that I like, and have come to the conclusion that they are a myth.

  14. Sam Says:

I don’t know how you can be thinking of these for summer! I would be sooooo hot! Anyway, the Sketchers are cute and so are the t bar flats.

  15. Kostika Says:

I’d totally go for the Aliza boots. They’ll go with anything.

The Sketchers make me think of the Spice Girls.

I’ve been looking at the Gabriellas myself

Still in love with last year’s New Rock Sandals.

  17. Samantha Says:

I think I’m going to treat myself to the Jump Shiam shoes for my birthday in June. Along with many, many other things on my ever growing wish list of things I am wishing for.

But we all know I’ll probably blow the money on pie instead.

Hawt hawt hawt! The WeWho and Madden boots are killers. Lets Go Sailing for the practical option.

  19. LovleAnjel Says:

Yeah, the standard summer dilemma…I vote for the We Who See boots because they look breathable. I personally have a hard time with heels so I usually do something with Sketchers (check out their Jubilee flats). I have a pair of black leather Tevas for ridiculously hot and messy places like amusement parks.

The Gabriella Rocha Sol shoes are positively adorable. Not only do you still feel like you are wearing a boot, but you don’t ahev to worry about the boot’s material (leather/pleather/what have you) going all the way up to your knees. I personally settle for something like the Fitzwell Azra slip-ons because shoes like that are readily available and can be picked up most places. they, however, don’t have the advantage of heels. I really miss my heels in the summer.

So, yesterday I went to Urban to get a pair of the WWS Wrap Wedges, and they didn’t have any. They had one pair of cool looking shoes, but they did not fit my requirements for summer, so I passed.

I did hit up their sale rack and got some neat shirts though.

I know I am a little late posting, I just saw this post though. I have a great sandal option if interested. I went to five stores and didn’t like any of them until I found these. I like you am very picky when it comes to summer footwear(really any kind of footwear) They are also made from 100% recyclable materials! These may not be your style, but I hope they can work out for someone who runs across this awesome blog =D.
