Gucci Steel

I feel like this being titled “Making Of” is a bit misleading, but it was … pretty.  By pretty, I mean “THIS IS A FASHION SHOOT”.  I recommend watching it on mute, or you’ll just be expecting the models to say “Blue Steel” every time there’s spoken audio.

The color changing heels and mens shoes make me really happy and I’m not entirely sure why.

the 1st time i saw this editorial was flipping a magazine over and it’s right smack on the back cover. it’s the second half of the 3rd image, and i really hate it! dont like these ads at all.

Don’t like this campaign? Me neither, and that’s because it’s basically an evil, yet pathetic, twin of Calvin Klein’s uber-successful “multi-peopled” ads from the 90s. The reason this Gucci campaign tries, but seriously misses the yacht, to impress is that it “subtly” showcases certain specific products amongst a crowd of beautiful people, and the majority of its products for sale in question get lost in the mix, as the viewer’s eye gets draw to each unique individual person and not the specific product. Calvin’s ads worked because of this (“everyone can and does love our products!” was the message there) and Gucci’s fail ironically for the exact same reason (“we’re *all* just so beautiful you don’t even notice what we’re selling and what we’re not!”)

Quite the sad day for a mega-brand like Gucci…first off, to stoop to such a low as ripping off a very well-known and well-loved campaign by a competitor, and then getting trounced in even succeeding at that! Lord, Gucci has (had?!) such brand appeal and status at one time, it used to be able to flog its wares with just a pic of some hottie in English country attire with simply the word “Gucci” written at the bottom of the page. I suppose times have really changed, and this fashion house needs an ad-campaign revamp, stat! Dialing…Kate Moss! Tried-and-true English Rose at the helm again should help, methinks…
