I felt the same way when I saw the collection. I had to check and make sure I was viewing fall 2010. But I can agree with Rachel on this one: for some of us this is our uniform and wardrobe and are very pleased that there are more designers with this aesthetic.

And I feel the future is moving towards a sexless and genderless identity (we may not be alive to see it), so why not help outfit the new society?

i'm starting to resent the fact that every designer/west village hipster i see is recycling the coffin rag look i so fiercely wore 15 years ago. however, nothing is sacred and nothing is original, so i expect this trend to be literally worn into the ground. i've moved on to potato sacks and wooden clogs. you laugh now, but just wait!! ;)

Well designers do tend to stick to somethings because they work, not because it's easy necessarily. It's just because people like it. A little matrix-y but I like elements of this look. It's classic.

Rick Owens is just hard to beat. Helmut Lang has also done this. But I don't care, cuz I love it.

The long answer (optional to read), because i'm too distracted to actually work:
This IS my uniform, to which I've long subscribed. I'm quite happy with my clothing and even more happy that fashion is lately obliging my style (or perhaps perpetuating my my disinterest in any other style?). I've no real interest in rebelling, but interest in choosing items that make me happy and fit within the tiny confines of "what looks cool on me". It's pathetic, but it's also freeing in a way. I know exactly what I want and like for the most part. It's one of the reasons why I'm reading such a specialized fashion blog as Haute Macabre.

I do love when people are innovative within the confines of "black" and "modern" and "edgy", and surprise and creativity are necessary to life, and this really does look like what Helmut Lang and Rick Owens have been producing... but i still love this look!
