How To: Wear Socks with Heels

There is really no easier way to convince a pair of pumps that they are actually a pair of cute booties than wearing them with socks. Remember the Alexander McQueen sock sandals? This is NOT about wearing your stripey knee socks under a pair of 5-inch patent leather Pleaser Mary Janes. Or lace edged socks with heels and a school girl skirt, for that matter. In fact, done correctly, this look should not cause anyone at all to slip a dollar bill into your panties. I love the sheer black socks Elie Saab is using in these pictures- if you’ve got a serger handy, it’s also a great second life for a pair of stockings with a rip in them!

there’s something that can be very sexy about this combination if the rest of the outfit works along….the first photo more so than the second one where proportionately, the sock looks too short.

I really like this idea. I can see this as a great way to update a pair of high heels or a way to use summer heels before it’s summer weather (like here in NY right now).

I agree. That’s how to wear socks with heels, if you’re going to do it at all.
