Philip Treacy

It is pretty much impossible to look at a picture of a model wearing a rhinestone crustacean (see Rock Lobster, below) without wondering who would make such a bizarre and lovely thing. The answer is Irish Milliner Philip Treacy , who’s work has popped up on runways for Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld.

Fact: this hat cannot be seen on radar

    For one of my first modeling gigs are age 16, I wore a Philip Treacy hat provided by the designer — I had no idea of his significance back then, and now I adore his work. For shame…
