White on White

White can be creepy, too. Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaing features albino model Stephen Thompson and just very pale model Daphne Groeneveld, shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.

For the life of me (okay I looked for all of five minutes) I cannot find more pictures of Steven Thompson. And I want more.

I feel nothing for or about Groeneveld, she doesn’t strike me at all, but Thompson is truly inspiring. Chantilly, I second that – where are all the images that ought to exist of him? The interweb will not cooperate! I need more pictures of this marvellous person. Now.
Also, I wouldn’t say this is proof that white can also be ‘creepy’ – I know a lot of people have an aversion to albinos because they don’t like the colour-scheme and find them a bit ‘off’, and I think that’s entirely unfair. I prefer to think that the moon lives in them, because I have never yet seen one that I did not find beautiful, and does not the fact that they are photosensitive skin-wise and averse to sunlight because their eyes are delicate make them, really, true ‘Children of the Night’? They might not be beautiful in the ‘normal’ sense, but that doesn’t make them any less lovely, and honestly, I think anyone who reads Haute Macabre is going for the out-of-this-world transcendental/strange look within reason (or at least appreciates that kind of thing) without wanting to look like we just forgot today wasn’t halloween. We’re not beautiful in the ‘normal’ sense either, and who’d want to be? Ornate Victorian revival jewelry with taxidermy twists is ‘creepy and stylish’, albinos debuting in high fashion is just plain amazing. Why has this not been done before?
Anyone finds more piccies of Mr. Thompson, let us know. There have to be more!
