The Hunger Games: Knitwear Review

katniss-catching-fire-2-537x402

I went and saw The Hunger Games: Catching Fire this weekend. And, amongst all the Capitol fashion frippery and overly rococo nonsense, the thing I just kept looking at was this…whatever it is, created by designer Maria Dora.

This particular piece is woven, but don’t let that stop you from knitting or crocheting one if you’re a do-it-yourself type. There are free patterns available from Lion Brand yarns, here:

District 12 Cowl Wrap (Knit Version/Crochet Version)

There are also knockoffs popping up all over Etsy, , like this Katniss Cowl.

Meanwhile, feel free to enjoy some more of Maria Dora’s amazing designs:

Where can we get the black “scarf” by Maria Dora shown in picture #1?

There are also many many version of that cowl on Ravelry (a knitting site)- go there and search for “katniss cowl” and a ton come up ;-) (It requires a membership, but it’s free.)

I don’t know if links will work, but just in case- http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#page=1&query=katniss%20cowl&view=captioned_thumbs&sort=best
