Burke & Hare Co was established in 2011 in Milwaukee, with the goal to create speciality items of a darker aesthetic without compromising a specific refined and mature taste. Inspiration has been found from medical sciences, superstitions of the past, and spiritualism, gentlemen and lady’s parlors, seances, nature, and romanticism.
Now moved to Providence, RI, the shop is growing with even more influence from classic ghost stories and New England folklore, as well as the appreciation for my own history as a girl who has always loved Siouxie, graveyards, and black cats. I have always utilized candles as decorative items both for their light and their presence, but rarely found scents and imagery specific to my interests. Motivated by the desire to possess beautiful and macabre items for myself, I created Pillars and a Scented line that I love for my own and my friends’ homes.
All items are unique and created with special individuals in mind.

I’m a sculptor / designer of masks, props, costume pieces, and creatures for the entertainment industry. I recently started designing jewelry under the name FloridXFauna and am kicking things off with my first collection, Crystal Ossuary I. All of the pieces in the collection are hand sculpted by me and cast in eco-resin, a more environmentally friendly, bio-based alternative to traditional petroleum based resins. My creature design has been heavily influenced by mutations, anomalies, and hybrids in nature, and Crystal Ossuary I is a hybrid of crystal and bone. Future collections will include stand alone jewelry and accessory collections, as well as “creature collections”, where I’ll design a creature and then create jewelry and accessories based on the anatomy of that creature. The first Creature Collection will be released in Spring 2015.
Jeremy Hush draws from a wealth of sources and influences. An avid world traveler, and a recognized initiate of heavy metal and punk scenes, Hush has been creating work for zines and bands for years. Over the past few years, he has been increasing his focus on his practice and exhibiting his art more extensively.
His work is haunting and beautiful, wild and chaotic, dark and saturated, but entirely unique. Clearly influenced to some extent by the linear styles of 19th century prints and drawings, his work combines this suggestion to a historical aesthetic precedent with a contemporary inflection in content. Hush’s pieces feel like Grimm fairy tales, in the most visceral way possible prior to any of the sanitizing forces of Disney. They convey the solemnity of the ancient, and the guttural impulses of the nightmare. They are raw, they are meticulous, they are clearly symbolic. The work feels allegorical in its dense allusion to nature and associative metaphor. The artist uses found materials to execute much of the work, everything from ball point pens, collection in the course of his itinerant travels, to coffee used for pigment, to inky fingerprints for crosshatching. The works sophistication belies the raw immediacy of their provenance.
