Wounds and Witches: The Sublime Poetry of Segovia Amil

Segovia Amil

Until the well anticipated release of Segovia Amil’s collection of poetry, I will continue to look forward to her beautiful posts to her Instagram page and blog posts.

Her poetry is the sound that resonates off the chest of every woman and goes out into the world with odes of self creation, solitude, womanhood, youth, dark romanticism, spiritualism, mystery and divinity and female empowerment. The foundation of her work derives from her practice in Goddess-based spirituality, specifically that of the Dark. It’s gothic undertones provide the aesthetic and point of view that reaffirm her main message to “Embrace the Darkness.”

  1. Segovia,

    Oh skilled artisan…

If femininity ascribed a knight, you could carry that lance.
Sweeping your pen with power & precision, in verse & stanza.
A modern tournament champion, claim your throne.

Capturing the torment between the mortal & the eternal, sin & sexuality.
A woman’s gift & curse to the world, rooted in flesh but aspiring to the heavens.
A labour of love, a passion for life.

I would love to share a glass of red wine with you & Joanna my lovely wife.
To listen to the power of your discourse understanding only where it touched my perception.
Oh lady of chains, I would break them & set you free, a beautiful moth transformed; into an immortal butterfly.

Also my story I would tell, a metamorphosis of my own beyond, my understanding.
But I grasped that gift & thrive in spite of all, no fear have I, only surety.
Grace can only be understood when offered, accepted & lived out.

Like a heat seeking missile my lord & master would set his hand upon you.
He would pour you, like blood red wine & taste both your sweetness & the poison that is within you & all.
A mortal gift from Eve, from the fall.

Jesus can break those chains and it is He who died for all mortal form; Man or Woman he loves them all.
If you are open, if you ask & believe: then you shall recieve.
The fire of your heart & the storm of your life, shall be stilled & you will be more; feel more, live more.

A conundrum solved, oil & water cannot mix!
Our fragile mortal form rooted in sin, made clean.
When the time is right just ask…

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Forgive my preaching, but I see potential & understand the promise.
Your writing is a gift, thank you

No worries about the wine, let it mature, he is patient.
