Honey Rose Botanicals CBD Deodorant
I’ve been searching for years for an effective all-natural (and of course, vegan & cruelty free) deodorant, and every single one I’ve tried from high end to drugstore brands until now left me … not so deodorized. It’s more they’ve all left me smelling like a sack of onions, and it’s been pretty terrible. I had not so high hopes for trying out this one, but I’ve been exceptionally impressed with it! It has a lovely subtle lavender and herbal scent, and it’s also infused with CBD full spectrum. No, I’m not walking around stoned all day, but I absolutely have noticed a difference in my general levels of anxiety and how I’ve been managing stress since I started using it about a month ago. I highly (no pun intended) recommend this product!
Mabel and Meg Lumilixir Serum:
I finished a bottle of this about two months ago and felt fairly ambivalent about it. I have a few other serums and moisturizers that I had been alternating along with the Lumilixir, so I decided not to repurchase. After a few weeks, I started noticing dry patches, uneven textures, and red spots on my face, and the only change in my skin care routine had been that I stopped using this one product. I re-ordered, and did a few triage treatments using the Lush Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask, and in under two weeks, my skin is back to normal! (If you’re interested in my full skin care routine, let me know!).
Kat Von D Beauty Brows
I am incredibly grateful and honored that I’m included on the Kat Von D Beauty gift list. I adore the brand and what it stands for, and was absolutely over the moon when a package arrived containing the new brow products. I’ve been using Anastasia Dip Brow in Granite for the last few years, which I like, but I honestly think the new line from KVDB is a game changer. I haven’t even gotten into the pomades yet, but the Brow Struck Dimension Powder is amazing for a natural, everyday look – I’ve been wearing the Dark Brown shade mostly. The #75 Powder Brow Brush is genius: it has a ridged edge, so it actually works in between your natural hairs to fill in gaps and lay product down in a texture, as opposed to how the flat edged powder brushes can sometimes make you look like you have solid dark lines drawn over your eyes.
Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist Broad Spectrum SPF 50
It’s a setting spray AND an SPF 50. I don’t think I need to say much more than that! I currently have it in my Sephora basket to restock the can that I’ve been using daily since last July! I alos really love the SuperGoop! sun screens, they have practically no scent and leave no oily sunscreen feeling. I recently picked up the Pacifica SPF spray and it feels and looks like I’ve sprayed Pam cooking spray on my arms, so I’ll be spending the extra money on the SuperGoop brand from here on.
Volition Beauty Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 50
I actually saw an ad for this on Instagram after Jo recommended me a different Volition Beauty product and clicked through like a sucker. And then bought it! Like a sucker! It’s truly great, though. I wore it on my honeymoon in the Bahamas and didn’t burn my ridiculously pale face, and whatever is going on with the “luminizing” part of it makes skin look a little fancy on no-makeup days.
Mini signature bag with hand hardware by Zana Bayne
I recently splurged on a small Zana Bayne bag to replace the shitty leather purse I’ve been using for (no joke) 15 years. While I’ll miss the hand-painted Einstuerzende Neubaten logo I stenciled on as a teenager, the hand hardware is pretty cool, too.
Cat DNA kit from Basepaws
“23andME but for cats,” I tweeted the other week. Turns out it already exists! This kit just arrived and I’m looking forward to learning if Magpie is part bear. Maika got one for her boy Neville as well — stay tuned for Haute Macabre DNA adventures!
I Dew Care mask in Disco Kitten
Disco Kitten is a chrome mask that’s infused with pearl and diamond and makes you look like the tin man from the Wizard of Oz or an extra in an Orgy video. Bonus: get these silicone mask brushes so your claws don’t get goopy!
Linen pillows by House of Baltic Linen
Gregg and I received these black ticking stripe linen pillows as wedding gifts and I’m obsessed — I even bought duvet covers to match. (Covers, plural: we’re trying out the two twin duvets per bed thing in lieu of one big duvet.) The linen is soft, the black stripes are lovely and, as Drake said, “I only love my mom and my bed, I’m sorry.”
