Mythical Characters In Gucci Gowns: Christopher Smith For Another Man Magazine

For the Spring/Summer 2019 issue of Another Man, shape-shifting self-portrait artist, Christopher Smith, an Instagram artist with an eye shaped primarily by fashion photography and whose bio simply states “me in my bedroom,” embodies eight mythical characters who inhabit the fantastical regions and metaphorical terrain that love must navigate in 1654’s La Carte de Tendre. Conceived by French novelist Madeline de Scudéry, this fanciful, allegorical geography inspired Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection.

For their Spring/Summer 2019 issue, Another Man Magazine felt it was time to “…revisit and reimagine the ancient art of mapping matters of the heart,” and working with Smith, this tender vision is brought to life with a stunning gallery both lensed by and starring Smith…who, naturally, is garbed in glamorous Gucci for each stunning portrayal of the various denizens of these imaginary lands.
