I realize that we have posted almost nothing in days- Samantha is in the middle of her big move to New Orleans, I’ve been engrossed in the annual madhouse that is the Edwardian Ball, and on top of that every time I do sit down to look at my computer I get stuck looking at the Spring/Summer menswear lines, and am filled with an apathy so thick it curdles. Imagine my surprise today, when upon slogging into the morass of my Google reader, I found this gem of a collection from Tim Labenda! The boots are actually from last year’s collection, but were too saucy to skip posting.

The cape. Once upon a time, it was a staple of the formal Gawth wardrobe. We thought they were dramatic, sophisticated, and European. And then one day we woke up and realized the we looked like dime-store Halloween decorations or extras from a community theatre production of A Christmas Carol, and we put the capes down and backed slowly away. Except maybe for that really nice vintage one stuffed in a box somewhere in the basement.

But maybe we were at least a little bit right about capes. They are dramatic, sophisticated, and European. Or at least they can be, done right. Which is to say, not in black velvet with a satin lining. And most assuredly not with a tophat and cane.

The newest installment of Amelia Arsenic’s A Is For Arsenic range was released last month, and it lives up to the standards she set for herself last fall with Night Terrors.

Crime & Punishment is a collected inspired by vintage fetish magazines, the drama of the silent screen, and a dash of murder.  The imagery combines film noir inspired bondage portraiture with monochromatic graphic interventions.

A latex counterpart of the collection will be released in collaboration with Jane Doe Latex  in the future.  For now, Crime & Punishment consists of unisex t-shirt collection, girls’ tanks, fine art prints, stickers, and a tote.  I still use my tote from Night Terrors on almost a daily basis!
