From the Black Lodge

BlackLodge

Our friend and talented jewelry designer, Amanda of Adelina Mictlan, is running an IndieGogo campaign to fund her upcoming project, From the Black Lodge.

From the Black Lodge is a popup shop that will travel to different venues, featuring independent, handmade and small batch business. They are currently seeking contributions in order to launch the project, and are offering different rewards for each donation tier to show their gratitude, and each contributor is entered to win a piece of Adelina Mictlan’s jewelry.

Indie labels such as Guts Glam Glory, MORPH, Death Traitors, Terra Luna, Wicked Apothecary, ThrillHaus, and Haute Macabre favorite, Ovate, are signed on to participate already, with many more to come.

You can contribute directly to From the Black Lodge’s IndieGogo page, and help realize this awesome endeavor!

Rest in Pieces Giveaway

RIP_Book

Earlier this week, I received a copy of Bess Lovejoy’s new book, Rest in Pieces: The Curious Fates of Famous Corpses. Bess is one of the contributing writer on one of my favorite blogs, The Order of the Good Death. Check out their mission statement to get a little more comfortable with your Momenti Mori!

Rest in Pieces tells the stories of famous folks’ posthumous adventures, like the worship of Rasputin’s penis, Marquis de Sade’s skull being dug up and pocketed by an aspiring phrenologist, the preservation (and travels) of Einstein’s brain, Timothy Leary’s space mission, and the attempted theft of Lincoln’s corpse. It’s fascinating and morbidly funny.

I’m enjoying Rest in Pieces so much that the publisher is sending me a second copy to give away to one of our readers! To enter to win, just leave a comment below telling us what your epitaph will say! I’ll pick a winner at random on Saturday, March 23.

Vintage Men’s Moss Agate Ring, Sz. 14, $95

I am totally enchanted by how much this vintage moss agate ring (men’s, and far too large for me, sadly) resembles a flock (platoon? herd?) of UFO’s. And, yes, my new iPhone case. Because, I really am that much of a dork.

I Want to Believe iPhone Case, $15.99

While I’m on the subject, Amazon has 24×36 I Want To Believe Posters for $1.63. I’m considering wrapping all of my Christmas presents in them next year.
