The Night Circus

Le Rêveur Parle: An Interview with Erin Morgenstern by J.L. Schnabel

Upon first reading The Night Circus, the void in your heart that you were previously unaware of is filled. From its opening lines, you are stolen away and captivated by its lyrical story and magical characters, your life forever enriched by your experience with it. You find yourself unconsciously nodding to any stranger in the street […]

Lupercalia 2017 at Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab + A Giveaway!

Soooo…perhaps you recall that last month we shared our opinion that sweets for the sweet should be an everyday practice, as opposed to a dreary once a year tradition, confined to one disappointing day in mid-February? We urged you to treat yourself to indulgent luxuries because you are your own best sweetheart and why should you wait until a commercially […]

A Woman With Power: Pam Grossman

Perhaps you know of Pam Grossman because you are a fellow enthusiast of fantastical art and ardently admire her blog, Phantasmaphile wherein she curates incredible esoteric imagery. You may have stumbled across her prescient proclamation that 2013 was “The Year of The Witch” and felt energized and empowered at the long overdue celebration for this […]

For the Gents

Oh Gentlemen, I hear your cries.  I know how difficult it is to find your garbs.  Everyone expects you to live in t-shirts and jeans, and because of that, t-shirts and jeans is all you ever find.  You do not want cargo pants with too many straps, you want Couture, just like the more delicate half of […]

Lace Legs

Leggings have quickly become a part of my regular wardrobe.  They’re easy to layer, they look great with high boots and heels, and are easy to pair off with various tops or dresses.  Perhaps they lean a bit over to the hipster realm, but really, all those emo kids have done is rip us off […]

Riding Boots for the Dapper Lady

Like so many of us I’ve been agonizing over finding the perfect pair of boots for the winter. After all, Angel City winters are more brutal than an outsider might expect! In fact, they become more difficult to tolerate the longer one stays here.  Initially my heart was set on engineer boots. I’ll probably end […]

Paraphernalia

Paraphernalia just opened their official online Shop this past November, and it is full of magic.  Each collection that I found is better than the last, including The Anatomica Collection (Heart Anatomica pictured above), The Wonderland Collection, full of Alice and her adventures, The Scientia Collection, and my favorite – The Menagerie Collection.

Maison Martin

Interview Magazine’s  September ’08 issue featured fashion creator Maison Martin and a collection of stocking faced models.   “Twenty years ago, when Martin Margiela started his own womenswear label (his menswear arrived 10 years later), it was as though the Belgian designer counted the brain as part of the human figure. Ever since, the collections […]

The Preacher and the Prophet

I have begun making ritual sacrifices to the fashion gods on behalf of these spats. Cyana Boutique has six various styles currently, and each pair makes me want to strap them on, get the shotgun, and get a little more Road Warriorish than usual.

Pirates & Witches

Every woman begs, borrows, steals, and prays for Agent Provocateur.  Especially once we’ve seen the new Witches and Pirates collections.  I think Santa only brings you pretty boxes from the good Agent if you’ve been very, very naughty though, so start racking up those bad girl points immediately.

Ashes and Empires

Ashes and Empires has one of a kind, hand made spats and handbags on their Etsy site. Currently, they only have two available pair, but seeing as how they are individually hand-crafted and unique, I’m sure they will continue to update their listings as more become available.
