Skin Graft Does It Again

A few weeks ago, Zoetica, thedaniel, and I had the distinct pleasure of attending the Skin Graft fashion show during L.A.’s BOXEight Fashion Week at the Los Angeles Theatre.

Opening with a performance dance routine, Skin Graft is back in its sorely missed ruffles and leather motif. As the black gown to the left made its way down the runway, I leaned over to Zoetica and told her that if I ever were to marry again, that would be what I would have to wear.

I have to admit that my previous statements about the mediocrity of the 2009 line were incorrect. Seeing the pieces in person made all the difference, and made me want to gear up to hunt down the apocalypse (or possibly commit armed robbery for that leather jacket on the right).

Katherina Andreeva is a French alternative fashion designer. Her line is inspired by “Victorian postmortem photography and fairy tales with a fetish twist”, which just might be my favorite description of anything, ever.

The shop is full of the only kind of pink I think I could ever wear, frills and fruffy with a hard hitting hint of “I will eff you up”.

Seeing as how it’s Valentine’s Day, it feels obligatory to post hearts and frills.

Thankfully, I actually like the pieces I found for this post, instead of the usual cheap red lingerie that infects and infests everything this time of year. We covered a few bits and pieces in a preemptive move a few weeks back with Heart On, but I thought we should celebrate this holiday in our own way. Since I’m under the assumption none of our readers will be presenting their partner with a chunk of the circulatory system they purchased at the butcher, here are a few alternatives.

Lola Show Girl handmade couture wraps can be custom made in any color or fabric. There is a disclaimer stating that she recently had a baby (gah), so shipping may be a bit delayed. Regardless of that, I am simply in heart with everything listed on her page, especially her prices – everything is under $50.

80′s Explosion

Time to break out those old Siouxsie albums, kids, because today, we have discovered a 80′s Gotho treasure. Welcome to Lullie Vintage’s Ebay Store, where once you’ve sorted through all the frightening hipster comeback items, you find the hidden world of forgotten cocktail dresses. Best of all, the prices are dirt cheap – I think the most expensive item was $50, but most average around $20. There are a few Lolita-esque items in there, as well.

More likely than not, this post was inspired by just watching Cyndi Lauper on The Graham Norton Show late last night.
