Originally inspired by the salty, crystal clear blue shores of the Mexican Caribbean, Open Sea is a Brooklyn-based creative studio that specializes in fine stationery and paper goods, and graphic design. The company was established in 2015 by Melissa Constandse.
Our paper goods line is inspired by the occult, the Victorian era, esoteric traditions, 18th century naturalist prints, as well as the many treasures of the plant and animal kingdom. Each piece is meticulously designed with purpose and intention, as a tribute to long lost traditions and to the beauty and wonder of the natural world. Aesthetically, we aim to re-create the beauty of a treasured antique print, a dusty old herbalist book, or a beautifully gilded leather-bound 17th century book, in a contemporary way using a mix of top-of-the-line and traditional printing methods.
All of our products are printed in New York (most of them by our studio partners, Coeur Noir) on FSC certified papers.
