Cat Call: Reclaiming the Feral Feminine Book Release
Throughout history, the feline and the feminine have been viewed as demonic contagions to be destroyed, erotic enigmas to be dominated, and liberating identities to grasp for agency. Join Witches, Sluts, Feminists author Kristen Sollee and a variety of Brooklyn witches, writers, and cat ladies to explore conceptions of the “feral feminine,” and to celebrate the release of Kristen’s new book, Cat Call: Reclaiming the Feral Feminine. The event will begin with a devotional ritual to Bastet led by Sarah Potter, followed by readings and a book signing.
***For those interested in helping us build a temporary altar to Bastet for the event, feel free to bring any cat-adjacent materials to add that speak to you***
Readings by: Dia Dynasty // Dianca London Potts // Shannan Herskovits // Suzannah Weiss // Kristen Sollee

The Sacred Conversation: Transcending Traditional Tarot Spreads with Sister Temperance Tarot
Learn to read tarot “outside of the box” of the traditional tarot spread! Angeliska of Sister Temperance Tarot has been working professionally as a tarot reader since 1999, and studying the cards since she inherited her first deck from her mother at age 11. Over the years, her practice has evolved organically away from utilizing constricting and limiting card placements. The spread she uses (known as the Golden Dawn, or Romany Spread) began to flow in a different way, allowing more freedom for channeling information from the aether to come through. This is the sacred conversation that takes place between the cards, the reader, and the querent, and Source. This is a rare and special opportunity to learn a new way of working with the tarot (whether for yourself, or with others) with a trusted and experienced reader. All levels welcome – even if you’re a novice to the tarot, you will come away from this class with a deeper understanding and relationship to the cards.

Creatures from the Land of Thra: Character Design for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance
This exhibit explores the process of designing the fantastical characters for the new Netflix series, a prequel to the 1982 film co-directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. The exhibit features a selection of concept art, maquettes, puppets, and behind-the-scenes images, tracing the collaboration between concept artist Brian Froud, who originated the world of Thra in The Dark Crystal, and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, which built the puppets for the series. Highlights include the Hunter Skeksis, the General Skeksis, a Fizzgig, and the All-Maudra and Seladon Gelflings, as well as a series of detailed maquettes, created by Toby Froud, which were used as models for the characters.
The ten-part Netflix series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which premieres on August 30, pits Gelfling heroes against the nefarious Skeksis, as they attempt to save their world. The series is set many years before the story depicted by The Dark Crystal, and presents a greatly expanded world with many additional characters.
