The splendor and terror of Totality: an abyss of black patchouli, tabac, burgundy pitch, smoky frankincense, and black fig surrounded by a glowing nimbus of fossilized amber.
The Haute Macabre Collection is a grouping of scents based on the overall aesthetic of Haute Macabre and the occult philosophies that have influenced me.
Oak leaf, bourbon vanilla, almond husk, and black leather accord darkened by a 13-year aged black patchouli. Available as a perfume and a hair gloss.
Leather drenched with white patchouli, oak bark, bourbon vanilla, bitter almond, and Moroccan jasmine
Amber and black copal with black coconut, Sumatran red patchouli, green cardamom pod, and golden musk. Available as a perfume and a hair gloss.
The silent rays of the full moon piercing the shadows of an ancient grove: a ragged canopy of moonflower and morning glory, dew-touched mosses creeping over gnarled oak roots, and shimmering beams of mugwort, cuckoo flower, and rose mallow.
Black velvet oudh, indigo musk, smoked patchouli, golden myrrh, and tree moss.
IT WASN’T JUST A PHASE
7-year aged patchouli and polished black cedar with midnight-black vegetal musk, fossilized amber, Spanish moss, and nagarmotha.
The Cemetery Collection is based off of eternal resting grounds that I have visited in my travels that have left impressions on me. With each, I try to recreate the experience that I felt through scent.
MUMMIES OF MEXICO CITY
Church incense, ornate gold, old lace, and dust. A sacred, secret scent, recalling residual whispers of incense settling into the ancient, forgotten dust. Available as a bath oil, perfume, and a hair gloss.
In an underground crypt beneath a monastery school dating back to the 1600s rest twelve naturally mummified bodies. Going down the staircase leading to the crypt, the temperature begins to drop and the air shifts from the heavy heat to a dry, earthy scent. Confronted by the mummies is the sharp juxtaposition from the angelic and opulent relics of the upper levels of the museum, reminding us of our own earthy boundaries, and that we shall all return to the dust.
Mountain laurel petals limned in pale pink settling among boughs of hemlock, soft mosses, and dark lichens.
Inspired by Philadelphia’s Laurel Hill Cemetery, where I spent a hot summer afternoon once, exploring its inhabitants and watching an intense thunderstorm roll in over its gardens, danced with ghosts in an unlocked receiving vault, and collected animal bones that were offered to me. This is my gift back, to share with all of you.
Damp clusters of brown patchouli, dried maple leaves, black sage, spikenard, and curled, misshapen mandrake roots. Available as a perfume and a hair gloss.
The oldest cemetery in Salem, MA and bordered by the memorial for those persecuted and murdered during the Witch Hysteria of the 1600s, it is a place out of time: despite having modern infrastructure past its walls, the grounds itself are a quiet piece of earth that forever feels like autumn. Label art by Bill Crisafi.
ST. LOUIS #1
Drooping Spanish moss and crumbling marble, sweet olive blossom, 13-year aged black patchouli, and offerings of Bay Rum, Florida water, and tobacco
Just above the French Quarter in my beloved New Orleans, St. Louis #1 is one of the oldest cemeteries in the city, and the alleged final resting places of VooDoo Queen Marie Laveau and the cruel Delphine LaLaurie. Label art by Bill Crisafi.
