Keeper of the mysteries and protectors of travelers, Moonstone is an important crystal for those embarking on new journeys and identifying cycles and current phases of life, much like the moon’s phases of darkness and light.
While we close chapters of our lives and enter new, moonstone will assist you in learning the lessons of the cycles we experience. Allowing us to move through the liminal and cross the threshold that the High Priestess keeps. Think of the phases of the moon, growing and waning, never feeling small or extinguished, only continuing.
These particular pieces were troublesome for me: they flashed brilliantly when I selected them, and then each time I pulled them to photograph, they were all shy and unwilling. I tried multiple times, eventually setting them aside. After the last full moon, I tried again, and they finally cooperated. In the weeks leading to that, my intentional practice had been focused on moving through stuck phases, elaborating on the themes of moving through the space between Tower to the Star, especially now in our forced stillness. I believe these moonstones were activated from that daily work, pushing me through a cycle and allowing me to reflect upon it and grow.
“I am the Bennu. The soul of Ra, and the “Guide of the Gods who are in the Underworld. Their “Divine Souls came forth upon earth to do the will of “Their Doubles, let therefore the soul of the Osiris come forth to do the will of his double”. The Bennu was also the soul of Osiris, and thus the amulet brought with it the protection of Osiris and Ra”. Egyptian Magic, E.A. Wallis Budge
Carnelian, once known as “the blood of Isis”, emit a warmth, recirculating the blood in your veins. In ancient times, Carnelian was worn to give warriors courage in battle, something not energetically different than our modern uses – Carnelian ignites a passion, gives a bold voice to the timid, and builds power within.
Carnelian bowls, freeforms, and palm stones are available.
Amethyst calms anger, frustration, and promotes a sense of calmness and peace. It aids in alleviating the symptoms of insomnia (I have long kept a large piece in my bedroom), and purges karmic baggage and imbalancement. It is also believed to assist in combating addictions and thought patterns, an excellent talisman to have during times of recovery from physical addictions. Stimulating the crown chakra, Amethyst creates a sense of connection to spiritual realms, creating serenity and peacefulness, something that we all strive to achieve.
The ancient Greeks believed that Bacchus, the god of wine, was angered one days and he set his tigers onto the maiden Amethyst, the first person he saw, to be devoured. The goddess Diana intervened, and turned Amethyst into a clear crystal to protect her from the attack. In his remorse, Bacchus poured the juice of his wine grapes over her stone form as an offering, turning the transparent stone into the purple gem we have today.
Most powerful at the Full Moon, Star Rubies are a powerful aphrodisiac and enhance a heightened awareness, not only of a sexual or mystical nature, but a complete open perception. Extremely helpful in diminishing feelings of sexual dysfunction or trauma and notions of self-harm. Star Rubies are protective against negative magic being cast upon you, and excellent for warding off nightmares.
Star Ruby activate the Base Chakra, your life force energy.
Rubies would be worn historically to ward off pestilence and disease. An ancient Burmese legend believed that inserting a ruby into the flesh would “make one completely invulnerable”. Star Rubies were also believed to be worn by the High Priestess of the lost continent of Atlantis.
