hirsute

hair, i have a lot of it. It may not be as long as it seems, I’m sure if I were of average height it would not be as dramatic. these photos that i posted on ig last month got a lot of how do you xyz it, so here are some likely unhelpful answers:

care: minimal. it is thriving on neglect. i brush rarely, once or twice a week at most. I wash it weekly, drying is too much of an effort to do any more frequently.

products: salon dye job, pulp riot dye. i don’t know what color or mix of colors it is. olaplex shampoo & conditioner. color wow heat protector spray, i do not know what it is called, it is a square silver bottle.

if i wear it straight: ghost oil in the first day or so after a wash, bpal hair gloss after that, nothing if i lean into its more persistent wave. olaplex dry shampoo when it is approaching its cleanliness expiration.

the only trick i have is that i comb it in the shower with a wide tooth comb while the conditioner is on it and that is no fancy method, it is because i was tearing it out of my head waiting until i got out of the shower to brush.

tools: dyson. i use the airstraight to rough dry, airwrap to style a bit of a curl at the ends (this is a new thing I am doing), or the airstraight to straighten. if straightening, finish with the cold setting and it instantly reduces weird frizz. dysons are expensive but are worth the price and frequently go on sale, i highly recommend investing in one.

never, ever air dry. editing in summer of 2026 to add that I almost always air dry now, mostly because I am lazy, this will likely change once it gets cold out again

sleep: untied loose and piled above my head on the pillow, i hate to feel it on my back or neck while i am laying down.
