Salem’s Burying Point Cemetery
Polaroids from Burying Point cemetery in Salem a few weekends ago, most of my other rolls are sitting halfway done still in their cameras.
The last time I was at this cemetery, it was almost totally empty, and we could walk freely and examine the headstones up close (respectfully, of course). It was much more crowded this time - each of these photos was after a crouching in position waiting for the split second without any foot traffic in the frame to fire.
I still love this cemetery, it has always felt like it is removed from time. There aren’t many manmade places in America that feel ancient, but this is one of them. Burying Point inspired one of my collab perfume oils with BPAL after my first visit, its scent is earthy and old feeling to me.
More highlights from the trip to come, but wanted to share these with you for now.
